Personality:
Kiki has always been a dreaming child. Raised in a very quiet town, with a tight-knit community to watch over her, her life has been rather dull and she's only just beginning to chafe under it, to want a little more excitement. It's not that she's not interested in the world—far from it—but simply that she's lacked the maturity and experience to really tackle things on her own, tangibly, until recently. As a result, she may appear a bit easily distracted, absent-minded or inattentive at first: these impressions fade as one gets to know her. Her one 'witch's skill' is flying on her broomstick, which is very telling: her mother's talent lies with potions, and she spends her life as a herbalist, so Kiki's penchant for flying speaks of not just a need for independence, but a free thinking spirit with a lot of creativity.

Kiki is incredibly curious about the world and people around her, and has an honest desire to learn. She keeps an openness of spirit that serves her well as a witch in training, visiting new places and meeting a great deal of new people. Speaking of which, Kiki is extremely sociable: she has absolutely no problems interacting with people she doesn't know, partly because she genuinely likes people and partly because her limited scope of experience lets her expect only good things. She does have a bit of a rude awakening to this when she arrives in the big city, confronted by a policeman and indifferent passers-by. Still, despite this setbacks, she remains cheerful, keeping her childhood insouciance even as she learns to adapt to city living. (Someone really should tell her that you should look both ways before crossing the street.)

Her lack of street smarts can be a setback: she narrowly escapes being hit by cars more than once. It's clear that, being from the countryside, she's a bit old-fashioned, and has trouble relating to people her own age. However, Kiki makes easy connections with people who are older than her. She's also extremely giving, generous with her time to the point of letting herself be taken advantage of. Of course, most of this is due to her young age and luckily, Koriko was mostly full of kind people. The result, however, is she becomes easily discouraged when faced with disappointment, like when she encountered her client's ungrateful granddaughter. She also doesn't deal well with over-stimulation, a fairly common occurrence when you’re from as tiny a village as Kiki. Thankfully, she has good coping skills and generally knows how to bow out gracefully when things become too much for her.

She has no fear of risk-taking, and even outright enjoys thrills, such as when she goes biking with a boy, unsafely riding tandem despite the bike being built for one...and having a propeller attached to its front. This translates to Kiki's overall life philosophy: she's bold, and has a strong entrepreneurial streak, unafraid to take things into her own hands, even outright starting a business at thirteen. A bit stubborn, she doesn't let setbacks get in her way and is capable of finding creative solutions to problems. She also doesn't cave under pressure or responsibility, capable of a surprising deal of focus in attaining her goals. While work isn't her passion, Kiki definitely isn't afraid to put her nose to the grindstone if it's asked of her, and will put in tremendous amounts of effort into the things—projects, jobs, relationships—that matter to her.

Like any little girl, there's a part of Kiki that does enjoy being babied and taken care of, but for the most part she remains confident and autonomous. She tries not to rely too much on the people around her, instead accepting their leadership and flexing the rules to see how far they let her fly. More than anything, it's independence that's important to Kiki, and what she, as a growing thirteen-year-old not fully fledged, so dearly craves.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
+ Adaptable
Kiki is mentally capable of hitting the ground running no matter where she ends up! (To a point.)
+ Courageous
Leaving home at thirteen to live on your own is no mean feat—Kiki has the moxie to face down whatever frightens her.
+ Optimistic
She'll see the good in every situation and person she meets, and always try to turn a bad situation around.
+ Hardworking
In poké-land or not, Kiki always give 110%.

- Naive
Having never lived in a big city before, Kiki's lacking in some pretty basic ground rules, like crossing the street.
- Sensitive
She's thirteen, the world is big and new, and that means that rudeness and unpleasant attitudes are going to hit harder.
- Young
Related to the above—at thirteen, even though she's physically fit, Johto's harsh environment will be trying for someone who's only ever lived her her parents' roof.

First Person Sample:

[The feed shows Kiki's smiling face, despite the roar of the rain behind her. She's in a cave, from what the grainy video shows, crackling fire illuminating the stone walls. Around the fire in a loose semicircle are her pokémon, their attention on her as she adjusts the 'gear just so.]

Hi everyone! We've been stuck in here because of the rain, so I figured I'd make the most of it—look!

[She holds up a—piece of wood? No wait, it's the shaft of something. Seeming to realize she's holding it wrong, Kiki flips it, revealing that it's actually...a broom. A homemade broom. Small, probably not very practical, with neatly-arrange scrubs providing the 'sweep'.]

I made my own broomstick! Well, my pokémon were really helpful. [The one closest to her gets a grateful pat on the head.] It'd good to stay in practise, after all; it's always best to fly on a broom you made yourself. Say, do any of you know how to make anything? I'm really curious, and it's raining, so you can't all be busy!

[She waves, and off it goes.]

Third Person Sample:

She gave her paycheck a victorious smile. It wasn't as impressive as she'd have liked; she was only allowed to work part-time here, and was actually working less hours than she did at Osono's bakery. But the work itself—scrubbing floors, mucking out stalls, feeding the pokémon and milking the Miltanks—was strangely nostalgic to a girl who'd grown up as the herbalist's daughter. She liked it, she got lots of fresh air and sunshine doing it, and it paid well. She certainly wouldn't complain.

Best of all, at the end of the day she could make her way back to Olivine and admire the sunset over the water (still her absolute favourite), and decide what she would do with her newly-acquired savings. She always squirrelled some away, just in case: a P100 note here, P50 there, and by the end of each month she had a tidy little extra that made her feel secure. It was at once both frightening and exciting, being so in charge of her own destiny, and for the most part, she endeavoured to make reasonable choices (and not just pancakes for days). As she walked along cobblestone roads, she mentally divvied up what she'd earned versus what she needed: food for herself and her pokémon, nights at the inn, and maybe, if she had enough...

She paused, lowering the pay stub to better see the pretty red dress in the window. She had been good so far, purchasing only light, easily-packed clothing that was practical and didn't show stains too much. This dres...wasn't any of that. Red velvet, boat-neck and three-quarter sleeves and Kiki could already see herself in it, twirling. She bit her lip, forced herself to recount her savings. If she merged this month's extra with last month's, and lived a bit austerely for a few days...oh, but it was so expensive!

Encouraging herself to stay strong and not give in, she decided to sleep on it, poll her team if she had to...and come back the next day for her window shopping fix.
