Summer's gone, but you would never be able to tell from this weather. They call this an 'indian summer', right?

[The video opens to a shot of Till, Kiki's Sawsbuck, showing off his autumn foliage, not quite as thick as he would like, given the heat. He shakes his massive antlers and prances a few times, making Kiki giggle, even as she wipes sweat from her brow.]

Isn't Till handsome with his fall antlers? I also got him a saddle--

[Till obligingly turns a bit, showing off a neat little saddle and harness getup, which looks sturdy, if not elegant.]

I had some trouble finding a saddle that was all right on his back, since he's different from a Ponyta. So I improvised a little.

[A beat.]

I've been thinking about traveling a lot, lately. Maybe even going around all of Kanto. Anyone have any tips for long distances?

Yes! Though I think it's fine so long as he doesn't Sing while he works.

Given what I know about Sing, I'd think that would put the brooms to sleep sooner than it'd inspire them into a cleaning frenzy.

I'm not worried about the brooms, I'm more worried about the other workers! He'd get so mad if everyone was sleeping on the job!

I'm not, am I? Maybe I know I'd miss him. But I know he'd behave, though, he's a good boy.

And tell me, how are the others? I can see Till's looking majestic lately, but I haven't heard about the rest of your team yet.

Oh, they're all grown up now! [A giggle.] Evolved, I guess.

Here--[Kiki whistles shrilly, and that's the last sound before the feed switches to video. Kiki's crew comes over, Momo now a Delcatty, Sweep a Cinccino, Vivi the Mismagius and of course, Vesper now a glossy Starmie. They're a pretty healthy-looking bunch!]

Not bad, huh? Say hi, everybody!

[Well, you know, it's been a fairly long time since she's gotten to see Kiki, and so you know what, she'll switch over to video herself — once she's made sure that it's as private as Zack can get it.

And, in a stunningly unprecedented change of pace, she's actually not wearing her hat at the moment; there's still a rogue wisp of hair over her eye, but for once she's got her hair pulled behind one ear in a loose side ponytail.]

And hello to you too, everyone. I can see you've been taking good care of them all — and you're looking particularly fine, Vesper. The new color suits you.

[Kiki pets the Starmie, even as he perks up proudly and displays his gleaming core. It flashes a few times.]

He says thank you! [Of course.] Though by now they mostly take care of themselves.

[It has been a long time since Kiki actually saw Carmen, so she takes a moment to drink in the sight.] You look really pretty like that. [Cheekily:] Is it for Mister Cooper?

[And this is why she doesn't go to video ever.]

No. [Maybe.] It's just more comfortable in the heat. Like you said, it's Indian summer — the thermometer says it's nearly a hundred degrees out today.

Yeah, but why not look good and be practical, all at the same time? Especially when there are cute boys to impress.

Don't tell Mister Cooper I called him a boy.

[At least she's not the type to do something silly like duck her head out of the camera or react with embarrassment. There's a touch of it there, make no mistake, but she's too practiced at keeping a cool head and a confident bearing. Even in the face of snickering Pokemon and knowing little girls.]

I won't tell him you think I'm aiming to impress him, either.

[Like she'd do that with HAIR, anyway. Reciting obscure Chinese philosophers is impressive. Ponytails are not impressive.]

Though I imagine you'd like me to at least say hello?

We've been on the move recently. Did you hear the news that some of Cooper's friends from home arrived? I think the plan is to wait for them to catch up.
